Sometimes True Believers lived in the villages of the people. They dared not meet openly for worship or study but would arrange secret meetings late at night. The people would silently go forth, barefooted or with feet wrapped in rags so no one would hear their footsteps. If they were caught--they were tortured and killed. What was their crime? They loved God's Holy Word and chose to live by every word of the Bible. God's Truth meant more to them than comfort or their very lives.
